Rather than waiting for a new-build, it is possible to take an older yacht with ‘good bones’ and create your dream yacht. Updating a 20-year-old Lady Diane to become Northern Dream was a major project. Beginning in the fall of 2014, the transformation began with the following highlights.

Scope of works

6 ft extension to cockpit and swimstep
New flybridge with new storage, seating and BBQ areas
Hardtop fabricated and installed
Radar mast and arch modifications
California deck — new settee fabricated with new tables
Fishing cockpit redone with live bait tank and salt water ice making unit
Addition of foredeck lounge area
Total renovation of all interior accommodations, including Captain’s and Engineer’s quarters
Engine rebuilds and generator replacements
Watermaker replacements
ABT Trac hydraulic system installed
Air conditioning system replacement
ASEA power system installation
Audio/visual installation
Hamann marine sewage system installation
Davit upgrade
Engine room: removable headliner panels and floor fabricated and installed
Quiet Tec insulation installed
Oil tanks — new units fabricated and installed
Systems all upgraded, replaced or rebuilt
Esthec decking installed on all exterior decks
Exterior painted
