Position overview

Reporting to the Lead Hand and Project Manager, our Woodworkers have a hands-on, multi-faceted role which requires both working alone and as part of a team.

The Woodworker ensures the highest standard of quality in their work and performs efficiently and effectively.

Safety is a priority, and our Woodworkers are expected to practice safety precautions in executing their duties, including the proper use of safety equipment.

Duties and skills

  • Construction and installation of custom cabinetry
  • Installation of windows and hardware
  • Fabrication and installation of teak decks
  • Fabrication and installation of solid surface counter tops
  • Work with other departments in the installation of equipment
  • Willingness to cross over and assist other departments if required
  • Deliver exceptional customer service that supports repeat business and continued satisfaction of Philbrook’s Boatyard clients
  • Keep docks and work space clean and free from debris to ensure the safety of clients and staff
  • Meet or exceed expectations with regard to promised times of completion
  • Ensure all workmanship and quality is consistent with Philbrook’s Boatyard standards

Qualifications

  • 5 years’ experience in the cabinetry industry
  • Red Seal Cabinet Maker preferred
  • Hands-on multi-tasker, able to work independently or as part of a small team
  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Pleasure Craft Operators Card — see Transport Canada’s website
  • Recreational boating experience useful
  • Must hold a valid class 5 driver’s licence
  • Computer skills — comfortable with computer equipment, internet and email
  • Must have basic hand tools and small power tools

Compensation

Competitive with industry standards, and includes a comprehensive health and benefits package with RRSP after one year on staff.
